It's a small shuttle, going from eastside to westside, downtown and back home again. Smooth ride, an electric vehicle, with a yellow roof you can see from several blocks away. I rode the MTD Crosstown Shuttle the other day, and it was nearly full. A woman got on and although there was a seat for her (if the rest of us did some shifting), a young guy near the front offered her his seat. He was maybe 15 or 16, plugged into an iPod. After she settled in the seat, she looked up at him and said, "It's nice to know there are still some gentlemen out there!" The kid had to yank one of his earphones out to hear her comment. Ride Free until Noon on Earth Day weekend! Thanks to support from the City of Santa Barbara, you can ride MTD buses and shuttles for free until noon, April 17 and 18! Come see us at Alameda Park during Earth Day weekend - we'll be showing off both a Hybrid bus and an electric vehicle!
